Year 6 Transition Day and Information Meeting – Thursday 6 July

Transition Day for all students moving from year 6 to year 7 in September takes place from 9am – 3pm on Thursday 6 July.
The aim of this day is to ease the transition between primary and secondary school by allowing students to begin to get to know the school and some of the staff who will be teaching them next year.  It is also an opportunity for them to meet new people and start to form new friendships.

We ask that students wear their current school uniform as this will help us to identify them. We would also like students to bring normal school equipment and some trainers or plimsolls as there will be a PE session during the day (full PE kit is not required).

Lunch will be free for all students however it will be a limited selection (spaghetti Bolognese or a vegetarian pasta dish) so students may bring a packed lunch if they would prefer.

Students will follow a timetable of activities and will be finished at 3:00 pm. Please ensure you arrange your child’s return journey from Hartsdown and that they are aware of these arrangements

The parents advice meeting follows straight on from this, commencing at 3pm in the school hall where you will receive information regarding the first year intake procedure and have any of your questions answered.

The information meeting will be followed by an optional school meal tasting session with Independent Catering in the canteen.

PLEASE NOTE:Children can attend the information meeting although there will be alternative arrangements made available to them.

We look forward to welcoming you to Hartsdown Academy.

UNIFORM REMINDER: Please remember that all students commencing in September will be provided with a new school blazer and tie, and the girls can choose the option of a free school skirt or the official school trousers.  Measurements will be taken for uniform during the Transition Day.
